ABB and Fronius Join Forces to Advance the Era of Smart Welding
Global robotics leader ABB Robotics and renowned welding equipment company Fronius International have officially entered a global partnership to co-develop highly integrated robotic welding solutions and support both new and existing customers with cutting-edge technology. These innovative welding packages are designed to offer modular, cost-effective solutions that help companies easily start or upgrade their robotic welding systems. Furthermore, Fronius equipment will be featured at all certified ABB Robotics welding lab locations, allowing customers to conduct trials on the latest robotic welding equipment.
New Products to Deliver Cost-Effective Smart Welding Solutions
The two new products launched by ABB use Fronius technology. The first product, the ArcPack U2, is a modular
entry-level welding cell featuring the new ABB IRB 1520ID arc welding robot with Fronius equipment. It comes
with a twin table configuration ideal for small components. This welding cell can be offered as a complete welding
function package or as a fully integrated and affordable cell.
The second product is an EthernetIP™ integrated communications interface, enabling programming and operation
of Fronius power sources through ABB’s FlexPendant HMI. This interface simplifies the welding data control process,
allowing users to easily manage welding parameters via the FlexPendant. ABB’s FlexArc cells and welding packages
can also be equipped with this interface, greatly enhancing ease of use.
