Honeywell introduced the TDC2000 and TDC3000 Distributed Control Systems (DCS) in the late 1970s

and early 1980s, marking significant milestones in industrial automation. Launched in 1975, the TDC2000

was part of the world's first commercially available DCS, embodying the concepts of centralized operation

 and management alongside distributed control.

Building upon this foundation, the TDC3000 was introduced in 1982, enhancing the system by incorporating

a Local Control Network (LCN) to establish a dual-layer control network architecture with the Data Highway (DH).

Distributed Control Architecture: Both TDC2000 and TDC3000 utilize a hierarchical distributed control

structure, decentralizing control functions across various controllers while maintaining centralized monitoring

and management through operator stations.

Local Control Network (LCN): The TDC3000 introduced the LCN, facilitating high-speed data communication

among controllers, operator stations, and engineering stations, thereby enhancing system responsiveness and reliability.

Modular Design: The systems feature a modular design, allowing users to flexibly configure and expand according

to their needs, accommodating industrial process control of varying scales and complexities.

Compatibility and Scalability: The TDC3000 offers excellent compatibility, enabling integration with TDC2000

systems and supporting future technological upgrades and expansions.
