  • Putting an A in IoT
Putting an A in IoT May 25, 2023
Putting an A in IoT Gartner predicts that by 2022, more than 80 per cent of enterprise IoT projects will include an AI component, skyrocketing up from just ten per cent in 2019. The reasons behind this growth are clear ─ IoT devices generate vast amounts of operational data in industrial facilities, more than we may be able to deal with. Our facilities collect information on temperature, pressure, vibration, flow and more, all of which we could glean valuable insights from. AI, more specifically machine learning, can simulate intelligent behaviour and learn from experience to make use of sensor data, thus creating actionable insights from our connected devices. It’s a match made in heaven. We are also seeing AI implemented into edge devices to create the so-called intelligent edge. For example, Banner Engineering’s DXM Wireless Gateway Controller uses a machine learning algorithm to gain insights about the status of machines, by generating a baseline of operation and warning and alarm thresholds. IoT providers are updating their tools to make it easier for user to use AI at the edge. Microsoft, for example, announced Azure IoT edge, a platform that enables low-power devices to perform AI locally, while retaining cloud connection for management and modelling. Amazon’s Greengrass has also been updated to incorporate machine learning capabilities. One challenge is that significant computing power and capacity is needed to process the data quickly, so networks must be built to be suitable for AI. To do this, businesses can consider edge and cloud connectivity, scalability, availability, interoperability, bandwidth and more. Your nervous system would be nothing without the brain. IoT too requires brainpower to work efficiently and AI is up to the job. Information of Automation Manufacturers Where are automation manufacturers investing in artificial intelligence? Advanced predictive maintenance tools are leading the way for investment from many automation manufacturers. These tools use artificial intelligence to detect faults early and prompt timely repairs. This reduces the cost of automation ownership and increases its availability. Platforms for rolling out bespoke machine-learning models are also appearing. These models manage specific production processes. From laser cutting to iron casting. Creating faster, and more efficient operations, with less expert supervision. ABB and Viking Analytics ABB is a leading manufacturer of automation and electrical equipment. It has seen increasing demand from its customers for predictive maintenance tools. In response, it has bought a stake in Swedish condition monitoring software startup, Viking Analytics. Viking has developed an artificial intelligence assisted, vibration monitoring application called MultiViz Vibration. ABB has integrated the predictive analytics engine from Viking into the deployment of its own Ability Asset Manager. The combined solution can predict and prevent equipment faults. Viking Analytics won ABB’s Electrification Startup challenge in 2020. Since then, the two companies have collaborated on applications and the visualisation of data from condition monitoring sensors. In the past, Viking Analytics has worked on other applications of artificial intelligence in industrial automation. This includes enabling automated pouring operations in iron foundries. It developed machine-learning algorithms to make rapid adjustments that would otherwise need intervention from an experienced operator. Siemens Xcelerator Xcelerator is a software platform under which Siemens deploys many different artificial intelligence applications, including MindSphere and Predictive Services. • Iron roughnecks
    Iron roughnecks May 10, 2023
Iron roughnecks When we think about our future workforce, perhaps one of the hottest topics of the moment is the rise of collaborative robots. While we prepare for the co-existence of automated and human workers, we’re also placing robots in some of the world’s most remote and far-flung working environments. Located on the Norwegian North Sea, there’s something different about Equinor’s Oseberg H platform. With no toilets, living quarters or coffee break facilities, this oil rig was not built with human workers in mind. Remotely operated from the Oseberg field centre eight kilometres away, this is the world’s first fully automated oil and gas platform. No man’s land There are many factors that make offshore the perfect candidate for unmanned automation. Inherently dangerous operations, long stints at sea and remote locations make for unattractive working conditions. With an eroding human workforce, the industry is increasingly turning to robotics to carry out its operations. For instance, Swiss robotics company, ANYbotics, has developed a four-legged robot fitted with a sensor head to carry out monitoring duties offshore. Named the ANYmal, it’s pilot installation in 2018 proved that the robot is capable of autonomously performing a range of inspection tasks, including thermal measurements and checks on water levels. We may not be handing the reigns over to four-legged robots any time soon, but achieving autonomous offshore operations is certainly in our reach. • What is supply chain management?
What is supply chain management? May 06, 2023
What is supply chain management? Traditional supply chain management is an essential aspect of any business and refers to the management of the flow of goods and services. It is particularly important in the manufacturing industry and encompasses everything from sourcing and procurement to logistics and inventory management. Effective supply chain management can help manufacturers reduce costs, improve efficiency and bring products to market faster, giving them a competitive advantage in the industry. All of this combined makes for a manufacturer better equipped to meet customer demand. Deloitte recently found that, of 400 manufacturers surveyed, 79% percent of organisations with superior supply chain capabilities achieved revenue growth that is significantly above average while only 8% with lower performing supply chains achieved comparable growth. Apter Power Company works closely with a network of specialist couriers that often means we can get a delivery processed and dispatched on the same day as ordering. This same network means that deliveries are unaffected by unscheduled delays that disrupt other delivery methods. 3BHE005555R0101 3BHE020959R0127 3BHE009017R0102, XV C724BE 3BHB020538R0001 5SHX 1000H0003 3BHB007209R0105 XV C767 AFC105 3BHB007211R0116 XV C768 AFC116 3BHB003041R0101 3BHB022793R0001 3BHB036579R0001 HIEE300927R0101 MPRC-086444-005 PMP-A3101A1S GE IS220PAICH2A GE IS220PDOAH1A GE IS220PDIAH1A GE IS220PTCCH1A GE IS220PTURH1A GE IS220YDIAS1A GE IS220PDIOH1A GE IS220PRTDH1A GE IS220PRTDH1A GE IS220PSCAH1B GE IS220PAICH1A GE IS200SRTDH2A GE IS200STCIH4A GE IS200ESYSH2A GE IS215UCCAM03A GE IS215UCVEH2A 81001-450-52-R 81001-451-82-R 1756-IF16H 2198P031 2198P141 2198208 2198D020ERS3 2198D020ERS4 2198D032ERS3 2198D057ERS3 2198D012ERS3 2198H025ERS 2198H070ERS2 2198H018ERS2 2198H018ERS 2198H003ERS We still have a lot of PLC/DCS/TSI/ESD in stock, contact us quickly for prices. +86 18030235311 jessica01235483 info@apterpower.com hu18030235311

  • The Hidden Treasure
The Hidden Treasure Apr 23, 2023
The Hidden Treasure The Guardian recently announced that the deep-sea gold rush for rare metals has officially begun, with mining companies planning to profit from rare earths discovered 4,000 metres below the surface of the Pacific Ocean. However, with millions of tons of e-waste produced every year and increasingly sophisticated techniques to recover rare metals from it, a more environmentally friendly alternative might be hiding in plain sight. Rare earths also find important applications in industrial automation. For example, servo motors rely on magnetic materials containing neodymium and dysprosium, while gallium is used in its liquid form in human-machine interfaces (HMIs). Many of our discarded devices, both consumer technology and industrial equipment, contain precious rare earths. Instead of rushing to mine rare metals from one of the few untouched ecosystems left on the planet, we should invest in viable methods of recovering the astonishing amount of these substances that are present in our discarded devices. At the moment, the process of retrieving rare earths from legacy technology, known as smelting, is very costly and energy-intensive, which is why more research is needed. 81001-450-52-R 81001-451-82-R 1756-IF16H 2198P031 2198P141 2198208 2198D020ERS3 2198D020ERS4 2198D032ERS3 2198D057ERS3 2198D012ERS3 2198H025ERS 2198H070ERS2 2198H018ERS2 2198H018ERS 2198H003ERS GE IS220PAICH2A GE IS220PDOAH1A GE IS220PDIAH1A GE IS220PTCCH1A GE IS220PTURH1A GE IS220YDIAS1A GE IS220PDIOH1A GE IS220PRTDH1A GE IS220PRTDH1A GE IS220PSCAH1B GE IS220PAICH1A GE IS200SRTDH2A GE IS200STCIH4A GE IS200ESYSH2A GE IS220YDIAS1A GE IS220PAICH1B FC-TPSU-2430 10006/2/1 10300/1/1 10001/R/1 10005/1/1 10024/H/F 10018/E/1 10020/1/2 10310/2/1 10311/2/1 10209/2/1 10105/2/1 10201/2/1 10100/2/1 10101/2/1 5136-CN-VME We still have a lot of PLC/DCS/TSI/ESD Module in stock, contact us quickly for prices. +86 18030235311 jessica01235483 info@apterpower.com hu18030235311

  • From downtime to uptime
From downtime to uptime Apr 12, 2023
From downtime to uptime “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is a catchy phrase, but it’s not a good rule of thumb. Unscheduled downtime and poor asset quality costs manufacturing and process industries an estimated $20 to $60 billion each year. Unfortunately, such reluctance to embrace new technologies, due in part to the upfront cost, has hindered progress in operations. Anyone who operates within the manufacturing ecosystem will understand that failures and breakdowns happen day in, day out.  The intention of predictive maintenance is not just to prevent or reduce these breakdowns, but to help manufacturing plants achieve high-efficiency standards and deliver quality products in the process. A predictive maintenance program can reduce unexpected failure by up to 90 per cent, almost eliminating breakdowns. To perform predictive manufacturing effectively, the plant manager should gather as much data as possible. This is crucial when implementing any preventative maintenance strategy, as the more data available to be analysed, the more accurate breakdown predictions will be. While some extent of equipment failure is inevitable, it should not cause unscheduled downtime and poor asset quality, costing manufacturing and process industries billions each year. Instead, a fully-fledged and effective predictive maintenance plan will help to prevent and reduce downtime significantly, simultaneously boosting a plant’s profitably through increased uptime. 330130-040-03-00(1200) 330101-00-20-10-02-05 330103-00-08-10-02-00 330106-05-30-05-02-CN 330104-00-05-10-02-00 330104-00-06-10-02-00 330104-00-10-10-02-05 330104-00-13-10-02-05 330103-00-04-10-02-00 330104-00-06-05-02-00 330105-02-12-05-02-00 330106-05-30-05-02-00 330106-05-30-10-02-05 330103-00-06-10-02-00 330106-05-30-10-02-00 CMA135 3DDE300415 CMA124 3DDE300404 CMA136 3DDE300416 CMA127 3DDE300407 CMA35 GVT3605799 CMA122 3DDE300402 CMA137 3DDE300417 AO650 3BHT300051R1 CI610 3BHT300003R1 CI626V1 3BSE012868R1 DI620 3BHT300002R1 SB822 3BSE018172R1 AO610 3BHT300008R1 DSTA170 57120001-FC YPR201AYT204001-KE DS200CPCAG1ABB DS200CTBAG1ADD DS200DTBBG1ABB DS200DTBCG1AAA DS200PTBAG1ADC DS200TBCAG1AAB DS200TBQBG1ACB DS200TBQCG1ABB DS200TCCAG1BAA DS200TCPSG1AME DS200TCPSG1APE DS3800NGDC1A1A DS3800NGDD1C1B IS400AEBMH1AJD IS200WETBH1ABA We still have a lot of PLC/DCS/TSI/ESD Module in stock, contact us quickly for prices. +86 18030235311 jessica01235483 info@apterpower.com hu18030235311

  • Industrial hyperautomation and buzzword
Industrial hyperautomation and buzzword Apr 06, 2023
How industrial hyperautomation could transcend buzzword status? There are two worlds of automation. One is the conservative, day-to-day, pick-and-place, realm, where countless businesses still play. Here, the idea of automating a process with a robot or collecting some data from a machine to perform advanced analytics is still quite radical. The second is the world of the early adopter, where robots make robots in a lights-out-manufacturing environment, with machines making decisions for machines and all communication done at edge level, using sophisticated AI. You will have seen this manufacturing environment regularly; Will Smith drove an Audi TT through it in I, Robot for instance. You will also have come across it at Weyland-Yutani, Cyberdene Systems and Wayne Enterprises. In this world, we’ve finally come to understand that the enterprise tech stack and the industrial tech stack are inherently connected, and this realisation has driven huge increases in productivity and profitability over the last decade. However, hyperautomation seems to drive a new wedge between the worlds of IT and OT. But it doesn’t have to; there’s no reason that Business Process Management (BPM) and RPA, for instance, must stop at the edge of the enterprise layer. 2198D020ERS3 2198D020ERS4 2198D032ERS3 2198D057ERS3 2198D012ERS3 2198H025ERS 2198H070ERS2 2198H018ERS2 2198H018ERS 2198H003ERS IS220PAICH2A IS220PDOAH1A IS220PDIAH1A IS220PTCCH1A IS220PTURH1A IS220YDIAS1A IS220PDIOH1A IS220PRTDH1A IS220PRTDH1A IS220PSCAH1B MC-TAIH13 51309138-175 MC-TAIH12 51304337-150 MC-TDIY22 51204160-175 MC-TAIH02 51304453-150 MC-TLPA02 51309204-175 MC-TAMT04 51305890-175 MC-YAMR03 51309218-175 MC-TAMT03 51309223-175 MC-TAOY22 51204172-175 MC-TDOY22 51204162-175 We still have a lot of PLC/DCS/TSI/ESD Module in stock, contact us quickly for prices. +86 18030235311 jessica01235483 info@apterpower.com hu18030235311

  • Under pressure: Reducing factory floor stress
Under pressure: Reducing factory floor stress Mar 30, 2023
Information: Under pressure: Reducing factory floor stress According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the manufacturing industry experienced the second-largest increase in resignation rates in 2021, increasing 1.2 per cent since 2020. This increased resignation rate is second only to the leisure and hospitality industries. Although not all industries are experiencing the effects of the Great Resignation, statistics show that lower-paid employees are the ones leading the charge, especially in manufacturing. Within manufacturing, those in lower-paying nondurable goods had the highest resignation rate. The manufacturing industry is not known for its high turnover rate,so what has changed and how can employers address these issues? Many factors can contribute to an employee’s resignation, but there are some common stressors across the industry that if addressed could decrease the resignation rate. In fast-paced, physical tasks like some of those in factory-based manufacturing, it is no surprise that the high demands on the body and mind of employees are one of the most stressful parts of the job. With the large production quotas, employees can often feel overwhelmed, which can result in excessive stress and, in some cases, burnout. Another common workplace stress in manufacturing is a hazardous work environment. A factory is no easy place to work and often requires hard physical exertions. Implementing digital technologies, such as exoskeletons and palletizing robots, can help reduce accidents. Therefore, decreasing the amount of time off for injuries while also lowering maintenance costs.
