  • Reduce the cost of your motor
Reduce the cost of your motor Dec 02, 2023
Three ways to reduce the cost of your motor Convert the energy Engineers can invest in variable speed drives (VSDs) to manage energy wastage. VSDs can be retrofitted to a single-speed motor and convert the fixed incoming power to a variable voltage. It will then manage the motor’s output speed according to the device’s changeable demands. The addition of a VSD has the potential to reduce energy consumption of a facility by at least ten per cent. Slow things down Fixed speed motors accelerate extremely quickly to reach their correct, operational speed, requiring a high current and creating a great deal of heat as a result. This start up process can cause a lot of wear over time and it will ultimately reduce the lifespan of the device. To prevent too much wear, some manufacturers limit the amount of times a motor starts up per hour. Engineers can use a soft starter device with their AC electrical motors to reduce this wear. A soft start temporarily limits the current to the motor, therefore avoiding increased mechanical wear and overheating of electrical parts. Move things around Improving motor efficiency does not have to involve installing costly equipment. By making a few small changes to their facility, manufacturers can save energy and therefore cut utility costs. For example, motors are often left running when they’re not needed and unnecessary use can add up to £2,000 a year per motor to the energy bill and maintenance costs. Engineers should regularly monitor the surrounding environment of the motor to ensure it can operate at the highest efficiency. Keeping motors out of areas in the facility that have high temperatures can reduce overheating. Keeping the motor clean and away from machinery that might emit a lot of dust or debris can also help prevent breakages. Manufacturers should consider eco-obsolete technology if they must replace a part to return to production. These are parts that have become obsolete and are no longer sold by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). However, eco-obsolete technology still adheres to energy efficiency standards despite not being brand new, so is a cost-effective option for manufacturers. 3EHL409300R0001 PPB626B01 3EHL409055R0001 PPB622B01 3EHL409054R0001 KUB921A01 3EHE300694R0001 PPA425B01 3EHL409319R0001 URB512D15 3EHE300692R0001 LAA424C01 3HIET404238R0001 UFB700A01 PCD235 3BHE032025R0101 PPD114B1022 3BHE020570R1022 HIEE300888R1 UAC389AE01 GJR2391500R1210 81EU01E-E GJR2392700R1210 83SR07A-E GJR2389800R1210 81ET03K-E GJR2390200R1210 83SR04D-E GJR2390200R1310 83SR04D-E GJR2389800R1210 81ET03I1-E GJR2393200R1210 88TK05B-E GJR2390200R1210 83SR04E-E GJR2389800R1210 81ET03M-E 81EU01H-E GJR2391500R1210 6SL3210-1KE18-8AF1 6SL3210-1PE12-3AL1 6SL3210-5FE11-5UF0 6SL3350-6TK00-0EA0 6SL3162-2BD00-0AA0 6SL3162-2BM00-0AA0 6ES7231-5QF32-0XB0 6ES7954-8LL03-0AA0 6GK1901-1BB10-2AE0 6AV6647-0AC11-3AX0 6SN1123-1AA00-0HA1 6SN1123-1AA00-0AA2 6SE7090-0XX84-0AD1 6SL3217-0CE27-5UA1 6SL3217-0CE25-5UA1 6FC5111-0BA01-0AA0 6AV...

  • Human error in an automated workplace
Human error in an automated workplace Nov 23, 2023
Human error in an automated workplace Human error is problematic in manufacturing, as it is in banking, but are advances in automation ruling it out altogether? Automation has been lauded by manufacturers and engineers everywhere as the answer to consistency and quality. It takes basic tasks out of human hands, giving employees the time to focus on more important tasks like business development and strategic initiatives. But if the move towards automated systems is meant to minimise error, why do mistakes still happen? Because we require humans and robots to work side by side, automation will never remove human error completely. So, what can manufacturers do to minimise it? Programming and monitoring We’re fallible creatures and one of the biggest causes of human error when working with technology is simply misunderstanding it. It doesn’t matter if you’ve installed a machine transfer line to build car doors or are using programmable processes to batch produce computer chips, if your systems are incorrectly set up it can cause a chain of problems across your devices. Robots also perform many different tasks in a value chain and you may need to change their end effectors or programming in between. Once it is set up, it is vital that all employees who will be interacting with or nearby to the robot are communicated with clearly and that all required training is given. If a member of staff does not know the difference between a collaborative robot, which stops or slows down when a human is nearby, and a non-collaborative robot, they could end up getting hurt. Maintaining your technology Another cause of human error when working with automated systems is maintenance. Manufacturers should proactively monitor a system’s performance, using predictive or preventative maintenance to identify if something is wrong. Robots are also at an increased risk of malfunction if maintenance is not performed when needed. Robots do drastically reduce the risk of human error but they do not eliminate it entirely. While a robot can’t fall asleep with its finger on a keyboard, it can introduce error if it is not programmed or maintained correctly. 80190-380-01-R 80190-380-02-R 80190-480-01-R 80190-320-03-R 80190-300-01-R ALLEN BRADLEY EC6682 ALLEN BRADLEY EC6622LS MOX720-P4668E 80026-518-01 80190-580-01-R 80190-540-02-R 8100-199-53-R 8100-199-51-R 80190-560-02-R 80190-480-01-R 80190-320-03-R 80190-380-01-R 80190-380-02-R 80190-220-01-R 81001-340-71-R 2198-D057-ERS3 2198-D032-ERS4 33101-23-41-10-02-05 330102-05-20-10-02-05 330105-02-12-05-02-05 330105-02-12-10-02-05 330106-05-30-10-02-00 330130-045-00-00 330130-045-00-05 330130-080-00-05 330130-080-02-05 330130-085-01-05 330190-085-00-05 330901-00-40-10-02-05 330901-00-90-05-02-05 330902-40-10-02-05 330930-065-01-05 3300/65 3500/40M 176449-01 3500/22M 138607-01 3500/93 135785-01 3500/93 135799-02 6SN1123-1AA00-0HA1 6SN1123-1AA00-0AA2 6SE7090-0XX84-0AD1 6SL3217-0CE27-5UA1 6SL3217-0CE25-5UA1 6FC5111-0BA01-0AA0 6AV6645-7AB10-...

  • All you need is a little PLC
All you need is a little PLC Nov 16, 2023
All you need is a little PLC What is a safety PLC? Safety PLCs support all the applications of standard PLCs. The difference is that, while standard PLCs have a single microprocessor, to which manufacturers often add safety functions using relays, safety PLCs use redundant microprocessors. This eliminates the need for safety relays. Each input circuit in a safety PLC has an associated output circuit so that errors in the system, such as short circuits, ground faults and channel mismatches, can be detected. Safety PLCs have two core functions; to reduce the chance of a fault and to shut the system down safely if a fault occurs. A safe and systematic shut down is important in circumstances where an instant shut down could cause harm to users or equipment, such as if a robotic arm is holding an item in mid-air. A safety PLC can ensure the robotic arm places the item down securely before shutting down, while the remainder of the system shuts down instantly. Safety PLCs that offer additional functions are now available. For example, ABB was the first to develop a safety PLC with integrated condition monitoring. This means the system can monitor the status of brakes on moving equipment by measuring vibration levels, which reduces the risk of collisions. Is it for me? The upfront costs of safety PLCs are higher than those of standard PLCs. Therefore, if the safety system is basic, such as one emergency stop button and a light curtain, it may be more cost effective to use a standard PLC with a safety relay. Because safety PLCs don’t need as much hard wiring, they are much easier to modify than standard PLCs. A modification only requires programming changes rather than wiring changes or additional relays. As a result, manufacturers can be more flexible, which makes it easier to adapt to industry developments, internal changes and customer demands. • Making the move to mobile
Making the move to mobile Nov 09, 2023
Making the move to mobile Using a myriad of technology including sensors, lidar, infrared and machine vision, mobile robots are now able to operate in less stable environments. This means that mobile robots are no longer simple, guided machines they are intelligent devices that can respond to environmental changes. To use an analogy, an AGV is more like a bus, following a pre-determined route, whereas AMRs are like taxis, they’ll go wherever is required. AMRs will extend the benefits of collaborative robotics, or cobots, into applications that require movement around a facility. In fact, KUKA’S KMR iiwa is a cobot mounted on a mobile robot, combining the strengths of a robot arm with those of a mobile technology. Reaching its potential At the moment, robotics manufacturers are working hard to develop mobile robots that overcome challenges in power, payload and navigation. Mobile robots by nature, charge themselves, but to get the most out of the fleet requires optimised, intelligent charging. To achieve this, WiBotic has developed wireless charging solutions to enhance the working efficiency of robot fleets, maximising battery life for each individual robot and creating an operational plan for batteries of the entire fleet. While many vendors are still offering the traditional AGV technology that has served us so well until now, the advanced navigation and obstacle avoidance of AMRs are causing manufacturers to make the move to mobile. • Can robots help us recycle?
Can robots help us recycle? Nov 01, 2023
Can robots help us recycle? New hope from AI The gap between what’s collected and what’s recycled has led to huge investments in automated solutions that use AI and machine learning to separate mixed recyclables at waste treatment plants. The goal of these technologies is threefold – to improve the quality and purity of shipped secondary commodities, to decrease the cost of labour, and to increase safety for human workers. Norwegian multinational corporation TOMRA, Finnish robotics giant ZenRobotics and Canadian sorting specialist Machinex are all enterprises committed to providing bespoke sensor-based solutions to the recycling industry. All these companies offer robotic arms that use computer vision systems, spectroscopic cameras and data supplied from sensors to separate items on a conveyor belt based on their perceive size, shape, colour and conductivity level. These solutions proved to be at least double as fast as a human worker and equally accurate in recognising different materials. For example, an optical sorter produced by Machinex can sort recyclables at up to 3,000 objects per minute, while the average of a human worker is 800. The human angle Currently, human operators are still needed to dispose of what machines fail to recognise, since misidentified items can not only contaminate the purity of recyclable material, but also ruin expensive equipment. For example, overlooked metal or glass objects can sneak in a paper-processing spinning machine and damage it. However, it’s extremely difficult to find and retain a workforce for this job, since manually sorting trash is a monotonous, unpleasant and often hazardous task. As a consequence, waste treatment plants report that many employees quit within hours. AI-based solutions would allow plant managers to reassign their employees to more qualified and rewarding positions, while robots would take care or the most menial and dangerous tasks. 83SR51 3BHE004573R0142 3bhe006412R0101 T8310 T8403 T8431 T8461 T8800 T8830 T8850 3500/25 149369-01 3500/93 135785-02 3500/20 125744-02 3500/15 133292-01 3500/60 173186-01 3500/54M DS200TCQCG1B IC3600ADAHIC IC3600A0AHIC IC3600LSFD1B IS220PSCAH1B IS200STCIH4A IS200TRROH1B IS200VRTDH1D IS215VCMIH2CA IS200TVIBH2B IS200TPROH1B IS200TSVOH1B IS200TTURH1B 362A3389P001 3500/22M 288055-01L 3500/25 126398-01H 3500/33 184631-01F 3500/42M 176449-02GB 3500/60 190085-01L 3500/92 136180-01T 106M1081-01 125768-01 125800-01 133819-01 140471-01 146031-01 149992-03 125808-02A 129133-01 3500/01 We still have a lot of PLC/DCS/ESD/TSI automation spare parts module in stock, contact us quickly for prices. +86 18030235311 jessica01235483 info@apterpower.com hu18030235311

  • Why do companies outsource?
Why do companies outsource? Oct 20, 2023
Why do companies outsource? 1. Outsourcing is good for business Outsourcing can be beneficial at a range of points during the production process. A company may choose to outsource manufacturing, assembly, design, maintenance, or even software development, like WhatsApp. When the instant messaging app launched in 2012, it outsourced to developers from Russia. The project was clearly a success, as two years later, Facebook bought the company for $19 million. Contracting out services or having your parts manufactured elsewhere can be especially helpful for growing companies. This is as they frequently have needs that are subject to quick change. Additionally, this may mean that smaller enterprises do not need to make any initial investments in costly equipment. Therefore, it is advantageous for them. 2. Stay focused In most cases, being a "jack of all trades" indicates that you are not a "master of any trade." Taking on work that is outside your expertise can be an interruption to the company's purpose. Therefore, distracting from the central company mission. Focusing the business within your specific area of expertise means you have more resources available for what matters. For instance, automotive brands usually will focus on the vehicle’s design and assembly. Meanwhile, they will outsource parts in which they lack expertise. Continental is a leading global automotive supplier. They are responsible for manufacturing the brake systems, tyres, and roller bearings for a large proportion of the world's car industry. 3. Lower Costs Another advantage of outsourcing is that it enables a company to reduce the amount of money it spends on overheads. It can mean for fewer purchases of machinery, reduce maintenance costs, and lower utility bills. Getting rid of machinery that is no longer needed also gives you the opportunity to free up space in your facility. Alternately, you may use this room to concentrate on expanding the scope of the company. Although Adobe may be keen to manufacture its own processors, it doesn’t put outsourcing to shame. The real skill is knowing which aspects of the production process should be outsourced and when to do so. The financial benefits for your company could be substantial. 3500/25 149369-01 3500/93 135785-02 3500/20 125744-02 3500/15 133292-01 3500/60 173186-01 3500/54M DS200TCQCG1B IC3600ADAHIC IC3600A0AHIC IC3600LSFD1B IS220PSCAH1B IS200STCIH4A IS200TRROH1B IS200VRTDH1D IS215VCMIH2CA IS200TVIBH2B IS200TPROH1B IS200TSVOH1B IS200TTURH1B 362A3389P001 3500/22M 288055-01L 3500/25 126398-01H 3500/33 184631-01F 3500/42M 176449-02GB 3500/60 190085-01L 3500/92 136180-01T 106M1081-01 125768-01 125800-01 133819-01 140471-01 146031-01 149992-03 125808-02A 129133-01 3500/01 129131-01 3500/03 177230-02 18745-03 18745-XX, 147025-01 190501-09-00-04 2200150-01 330180-90-05 330180-92-05 330180-52-05 330400-02-05 We still have a lot of PLC/DCS/ESD/TSI automation spare parts module in stock, contact us quickly for prices. +86 1803023...

  • Hyperautomation
    Hyperautomation Sep 27, 2023
Hyperautomation Coined by Gartner to describe one of the biggest automation trends of 2020, the concept of hyperautomation has rapidly spread across the industry. But how does it differ from regular automation, and is it a viable option for manufacturers who don’t wish to revolutionise their entire production or assembly lines? In its 2019 report Move Beyond RPA to Deliver Hyperautomation, Gartner pointed out a lack of guidance in how organisations should integrate robotic process automation (RPA) with other tools. The report also highlighted that business managers experience pressure to focus on automating simple routine procedures, but lack a strategy to extend automation processes to the whole factory. The solution, according to the global research company, is hyperautomation, defined as end-to-end automation that combines complementary technologies such as deep learning, advanced analytics, machine vision, natural language processing, RPA and artificial intelligence to augment business processes. 33101-23-41-10-02-05 330102-05-20-10-02-05 330105-02-12-05-02-05 330105-02-12-10-02-05 330106-05-30-10-02-00 330130-045-00-00 330130-045-00-05 330130-080-00-05 330130-080-02-05 330130-085-01-05 330190-085-00-05 330901-00-40-10-02-05 330901-00-90-05-02-05   MA0186100 MA0186100 140CPS11100 140CPS11100 140CPS21400 140CPS21400 140XBP00600 140XBP00600 140ACO13000 140ARI03010 140ARI03010 140ARI03010 140CPU43412U   ABB 086351-001 ABB 086362-001 ABB 086385-001 ABB 086363-002 HIEE205014R0001 HIEE205012R0001 HIEE300766R0001 HIEE300910R0001 HIEE401481R0001 HIEE300900R0001 HIEE205011R0002 HIEE305089R0001 HIEE300661R0001 We still have a lot of PLC/DCS/ESD/TSI automation spare parts module in stock, contact us quickly for prices. +86 18030235311 jessica01235483 info@apterpower.com hu18030235311
